For nearly 20 years (since ’95 to be exact) May has been regarded as “Masturbation Month”. It first kicked off to honor former US Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders after having been quite nastily removed from her post by ex-President Bill Clinton for maintaining views relating to the benefits of masturbation towards general and sexual health. Ironic right. Must have hit a moot point in amongst all his Oval Officing “duties”.

And so the IMM (International Masturbation Month) has been celebrated since, with the goal of kicking to the curb any social stigma that’s present against masturbation. Let’s face it, everyone does it (some 90% of men and over 65% of women are regulars in the US alone) yet few of us have the balls to actually talk about it for the right reasons (okay – those of us that actually have them!). Which speaks to the underlying problem in society about sex itself. That’s just one of the very things that makes May Masturbation Month a hard cause to not become a part of.

SEX IS NOT DIRTY. PEOPLE JUST MAKE IT THAT WAY!

So let’s do our bit this May and get busy for the benefit of masturbation itself. And perhaps knock out a few for your own benefit in the process!
